Details: SUMMARY: Stage 2 DBP Rule DETAILS: System was referred to HBH by John Higgins of Coquille regarding Stage 2 DBP Rule compliance. Review of the system shows Stage 1 DBP monitoring conducted 9/07 however results were well over the current MCL for TTHM. System purchases water from Coquille. I reviewed systems latest chemical results and system description. I contacted Wendy Marshall with USEPA regarding the systems Stage 1 compliance status and the need for Standard Monitoring Plan and eligibility for Very Small System (VSS) waiver. I discussed the TTHM levels with Wendy-- the levels at the system test site were well above the results for Coquille from the previous month. Wendy Marshall believes there are reasonable explanations for the high TTHMs results from 9/07. She decided to grant the system a VSS waiver. A notice of the waiver will be mailed to the system. There are no further requirements of this system for the Stage 2 DBP Rule compliance. Stage I monitoring will continue. I called the CWS contact, and discussed the VSS waiver of Stage 2 requirements. A letter describing the VSS waiver and future Stage 2 requirements has been sent to the system. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time
