Details: SUMMARY: LCR, WQP, and Chemical Monitoring Requirements DETAILS: From letter to Leahnette Rivers dated 07/09/08: Since Public Works Well #2 is to be brought on-line in August with sodium hydroxide (caustic) used as corrosion control treatment for compliance with the Lead and Copper Rule, two 6-month rounds of lead and copper tap sampling must be completed to demonstrate optimal treatment. Sampling must be completed at 20 lead and copper sample sites in the distribution system. The first set of 20 samples should be completed in September and the results reported to the Drinking Water Program by the end of this year. The second 6-month round of 20 samples must be completed between January 1st 2009 and June 30th 2009, with the results reported by July 10th 2009. pH must be sampled every two weeks at each active entry point in use for the wells (EP-B Public Works Well #1 (when used), and EP-C Public Works Well #2). Alkalinity and pH must be measured at 2 sites in the distribution system (typically at coliform sampling sites) every 6 months at the time lead and copper tap samples are taken. A minimum pH of 7.2 has been set for both the entry point and the distribution system, such that any results less than this would be considered an excursion (up to 9 excursions are allowed in a 6-month period). Other chemical monitoring schedules were listed in the letter - see schedules on-line and letter in file for more details. ACTION NEEDED: Sample as prescribed in the letter and maintain a minimum pH of 7.2.
