| Details: | SUMMARY: Response to VOC and SOC detects in wells 5 and 6 - 1st Q 09 DETAILS: Fairview had detects of Tetrachloroethylene (PCE), Trichloroethylene (TCE), and Ethylene DiBromide (EDB) at well 6, and a detect of PCE at well 5. I met with Bob on 3/24/09 to go over the following. Well 6 had detects of EDB of 0.000049 mg/l and 0.0000427 mg/l on 1/22/09-(MCL is 0.00005 mg/l), detects of PCE of 0.00748 on 1/22/09 and 0.00866 on 2/27/09 (MCL is 0.005), and a detect of 0.00095 mg/L of TCE on 1/16/09 (MCL is 0.005 mg/l). Well 6 off line as of late Dec 08. Mentioned to Bob that compliance with MCL is based on running annual average of data. If average is greater than MCL when and if well 6 is placed on line for any of these constituents, a violation occurs, and a tier 2 public notice is required. Fairview would likely be required to take corrective action to address problem. Well 5 had detect of 0.00176 PCE on 1/16/09. ACTION NEEDED: Fairview to continue quarterly monitoring of PCE and EDB, and begin quarterly monitoring of TCE at well 6 - even though well off line. Fairview to continue annual monitoring of PCE at well 5. Fairview already monitored quarterly for PCE at well 5. Fairview to communicate upcoming results and status of well 6 with DWP. DWP to provide oversight of SOC and VOC monitoring at wells 5 and 6. | ||
