Details: SUMMARY: Nitrate over half the MCL DETAILS: Spoke to Jack Harris and introduced myself as the new contact for Lane County. Went over historical data regarding nitrate issue. Jack said it was due to a culmination of things, septic systems, high agricultural use in the area. The water system is currently required to simple nitrate during the 1st quarter once a year and they sample monthly for extra precautions. I reiterated the importance of submitting only one entry point result for the well instead of every well every time. this avoids data entry nightmare at the state office. He said they are beginning that process now. ACTION NEEDED: Continue to test nitrate in the 1st quarter once a year. Additional tests are for the water systems own purposes.

Associated Alerts: CHEM3430 - 03/31/2009 - NITRATE
