Details:	SUMMARY: Discussed compliance with arsenic MCL DETAILS: I called Pete to discuss Pratum Elementarys exceedance of the MCL for arsenic. The system installed treatment in early 2007, and was in compliance for approximately a year before the treatment stopped working as expected. Changes in source water pH are the probable cause of the treatment failure. The system currently has new media for the treatment system ordered with expected delivery in the middle of January 2010. The system is also planning to use citric acid to lower the pH before the water contacts the arsenic removal media. I notified Pete that a compliance agreement will be necessary if the system can not return to compliance by the first week of February. ACTION NEEDED: I will draft a compliance agreement for review by Pete Paradis so that if the agreement can be signed immediately if the current treatment adjustment does not reduce arsenic levels to below the MCL.
