Details: SUMMARY: CT Tracer Study DETAILS: The City if Coquille owns and operates a surface water system that provides water to 4,200 people through 1,800 connections. Water from Rink Creek and the Coquille River is treated by a conventional water treatment plant prior to disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. HBH was contacted by the DWP to provide assistance with a contact time in the reservoir before the first user. Complicating this study is the determination of the actual first user as water leaving the treatment plant flows to four different locations. I corresponded with DWP staff regarding possibility of discontinuing practice of prechlorination as well as steps the City needs to take for use of the “stainless steel” tank at the water treatment plant. ACTION NEEDED: None needed at this time.
