Details: SUMMARY: Chlorine residual reading 0.3 mg/L DETAILS: An operator unfamiliar with the treatment plant collected samples for chlorine residual this past weekend. He did not let the water run to flush the pipe between the new 14,000 gallon stainless steel reservoir and the tap. The result was a Saturday chlorine concentration of 0.4 mg/L and a Sunday chlorine concentration of 0.3 mg/L. Testing Friday and Monday, conducted by staff familiar with the need to flush the line (~7 minutes), both showed at least 0.7 mg/L. To increase the residual concentration in the reservoir, I told John it is acceptable to lower the volume assuming a linear relationship between volume and contact time. ACTION NEEDED: none
