Details:	SUMMARY: Nitrate Alert Response DETAILS: Received alert for nitrate result of 13.6 mg/l from sample collected 3/15/11. Mike Olsen with Harney County Plumbing had been working on the ion exchange system, but the treated water still tested over the MCL. The hotel is not open for the season yet. A raw sample collected at the same time tested at 34 mg/l. Discussed connecting the hotel to the concessionaires well (John Ross) on the adjacent property. Due to difficulties siting a new well on the hotel property that would meet the required setbacks from the septic drainfields, and the bid for a new well coming back over budget, connecting to the Ross well is likely the best option as an interim solution. The plan would be to sign an agreement for the Ross well to supply the hotel for the same length of time as the concessionaire contratc (five years). OPRD would like for the hotel to have its own water source in the long run. ACTION NEEDED: PWS to finalize plans to connect the hotel to the Ross well.
