| Details: | SUMMARY: Discussed lack of coliform and nitrate monitoring DETAILS: I called Carol Root at Verne Root Orchard. I stated that I was calling because the Drinking Water Program has not received nitrate samples since 1994 or coliform samples since May 2009. Carol said they did collect a coliform sample last year, but not a nitrate sample. There may have been some confusion about their status as a PWS, and I made it clear that our data currently shows the water system as a regulated public water system serving a transient population of about 50 people. Carol said their population is 50 people, but only for about a month during processing, and then its less. I told Carol that the Program is considering enforcement action due to the length of time since we have received sample results for both nitrate and coliform. She said she will send in the coliform sample from last year, and then sample ASAP for coliform and nitrate. I confirmed with her that they need to sample for nitrate every year and coliform every three months. I Carol that I would check our database in about 3 weeks and if we havent received any results then Ill be mailing an official violation letter. ACTION NEEDED: Mail Notice of Non-Compliance if nitrate and coliform sample results not received by mid to late June 2011. | ||
