| Details: | SUMMARY: Follow up for positive coliform DETAILS: System submitted 5 samples 7/13/11 but not properly marked. 3 of the 5 were Ecoli positive and the other two coliform positive. At this time, we started receiving illness reports from the lodge but no direct link to water made. System took another follow up sample on the 14th and it was also Ecoli positive. I made a field visit to the lodge and closed the restaurant and helped Mitch and Sykes with Public Notices. They posted on the restaurant and in all 13 cabins. Michelle Byrd helped and amended their public notice to include better required language. Resort hired Abbas pump and United Pipe to chlorinate the system Friday 7/15. I spoke with Rick from United and they chlorinated the 4,000 gallon reservoir to 50-70 ppm. I contacted the resort and lab and required the lab take 5 follow up samples Monday and ensure no chlorine residual in samples. ACTION NEEDED: Wait for results of 5 follow up samples. Ensure the presence of a good raw sample tap. One did exist but was not readily found day of my visit. Weekly coliform sampling remainder of summer will be required. Restaurant to remain closed until all good follow up samples absent and foods that were in contact with water discarded. Will talk to resort about labeling of original 4 samples.
