| Details: | SUMMARY: Clarification of actions needed following recent EC+ result from source water DETAILS: The DWS phone duty person in Portland had left a message for operator Kirby Hansen earlier today, instructing him to take 5 confirmation samples at the well. However, this systems well was already confirmed for E.coli some time ago. Casey Lyon informed me today that the Data Online display is not up-to-date for this system - they are, in fact, conducting interim 4-log compliance monitoring while they take corrective action in accordance with the Groundwater Rule. Casey and Sarah Puls had completed the CT calculations to achieve 4-log inactivation for this system a while ago. Given that, and to save Kirby the expense and trouble of 5 needless samples, I phoned him back. I spoke with Marge and: 1) confirmed that they are reading/recording the chlorine residual level every day (it was 0.5 mg/L today)-- 2) made sure she understood that the previous message was in error, and they do not need to take any follow up samples at this time-- 3) Kirby no longer has to submit an annual source assessment sample while they are conducting 4-log compliance monitoring. ACTION NEEDED: I will ask Sarah Puls to check on the request to DMCE to change the treatment code for this system to Interim 4-log compliance monitoring to avoid such confusion again. | ||
