Details:	SUMMARY: FILTER MEDIA AND COAGULANT INVESTIGATION DETAILS: The Circuit Rider was contacted by the Bay Hills Water Association to provide for an inspection of the filter media in their packaged water treatment plant. The WTP had been experiencing short filter runs starting in September 2013. There had been a coagulant change in the middle of July 2013 (old coagulant was forming too much pin floc). Inspected filter media, finding some growth of mud balls. Instructed operator on method for manually breaking up mud balls during backwash. Checked backwash rate, which was adequate. Observed filter running. New coagulant is forming floc which is not settling out well in the settling tubes. Recommended that operator adjust pH for better floc creation. ACTION NEEDED: Provide further assistance with coagulant change if needed.
