Details:	SUMMARY: Disinfection Byproducts Assistance DETAILS: The City of Nehalem provides water to approximately 1900 persons through 710 connections. The water treatment plant is a cartridge filtration system with chlorine disinfection. Water leaves the treatment plant and enters a large reservoir before leaving the treatment plant site. Circuit Rider was contacted by the city to review the operations of the water treatment plant in relation to the management of disinfection byproducts. There have been 5 DBP samples within the last 5 years (individual sample sites). The operator has taken steps to reduce the potential for DBPs and requested review of those steps, along with advice on other potential options. Met with water system staff to review operations of the treatment plant and reservoir in relation to reduction in DBPs. The options discussed included distribution system flushing, better cycling of reservoir levels and optimization of chlorine dosages. ACTION NEEDED: Provide further DBP assistance as needed.
