Details: SUMMARY: DBP and Coliform Sampling Plan DETAILS: Kurt Krusik called to ask advice on creating a combined DBP and coliform sample plan. I offered to review a draft of the the plan when they have finished it. He mentioned that they would include quarterly monitoring for DBPs due to the elevated HAA5 result of 0.0622 mg/l from a sample taken 11/05/14. Kurt asked if only HAA5 could be sampled, but I explained that the quarterly sampling must include both TTHM and HAA5. Mike McNickle had relayed information via e-mail on 11/14/14 regarding this sampling, which stated that since Burnside only samples once a year, they will need to go to quarterly monitoring for 1 year (they are not in violation yet, once the quarterly sampling is completed, then compliance with the MCL will be determined). Sampling is to be completed in the following months: Feb, May, Aug, and Nov of 2015. This is the same schedule as Astoria, which also had similar results over the MCL for sampling conducted on the same date. The following Consumer Confidence Reporting (CCR) requirements also apply: Community water systems must include the following information in your annual Consumer Confidence Report (CCR): 1) Highest overall LRAA for both TTHM and HAA5 - For Burnside in 2014, this would just be the results of their November sample, since they are only on annual sampling. 2) LRAA for all locations where the MCL is exceeded - same as above - Burnside only samples one location. 3) Range of individual sample results for all monitoring locations - same as above for Burnside. More info on DBP compliance determinations and how to handle results over the MCL can be found on-line here ACTION NEEDED: DBP sampling for both TTHM and HAA5 to be completed in Feb, May, Aug, and Nov of 2015.
