Details: SUMMARY: Manganese Removal Recommendations DETAILS: Douglas County Parks owns and operates a Ground Water System at the Chief Miwaleta County Park. Water is taken from a well and treated for iron through a greensand filter. The water system is experiencing a significant amount of sediment which is causing issues with the 5 micron paper cartridge filters. It was suggested by the park’s pump contractor that the addition of alum might be recommended to assist with the removal of sediment. Upon visiting the park and inspecting treatment system, it was suspected that the constituent of concern was manganese rather than sediment. Test results confirmed that the manganese levels were high. Followed up on proposed treatment method. ACTION NEEDED: Follow up as needed.
