Details: SUMMARY: arsenic sample result was extremely over the MCL DETAILS: System had collected an arsenic sample on 4/28/15 with a result of 291 ppb. The lab verified the sample result to ensure the result was acurate. Contact was made with the water system. A public notice is to be posted immediately. A template was emailed to the system. An informative FAQ was also sent. In a separate email (and mail) was a letter that was used for the small system arsenic project and updated to reflect the current information. The system became aware of elevated arsenic from a neighbor (former caretaker) whose result was almost 150 ppb. The system was going to forward the information on to other contacts in the Malheur County government. ACTION NEEDED: Post a public notice and send a copy back to DWS. Take follow up arsenic samples as soon as possible. One from the original location (caretaker house) and one at the park itself. At this time the system is not required to add treatment. If the county wishes to do so, it must go through the plan review process beforehand.
