| Details: | SUMMARY: Disinfection interruption DETAILS: Brittany notified the department that there was an interruption in disinfection and unchlorinated water went out to the distribution system. The chlorine pump airlocked overnight and the operator discovered this morning at 6:45am that there was no chlorine residual at the 1st user. They sent out a do-not-drink notice to employees by email this morning. Corrective actions they are taking include draining the tank of unchlorinated water, fixing the chlorine pump, refilling the tank with chlorinated water, checking that CTs are met, and flushing the system until a residual of at least 0.8 ppm is detected at the end of the distribution system. ACTION NEEDED: I advised Brittany to distribute a boil water notice to all users using the required template and then to send us a copy. The boil notice must be kept in place until the chlorination is restored, CTs are met, and at least one test is done that shows coliform is free from the system. UPDATE: Brittany notified the department that 3 special samples collected on Wednesday 7/22/15 came back absent for coliforms, therefore permission to lift the boil notice was granted at 2:30pm Thurs. 7/23/15. | ||
