| Details: | SUMMARY: +EC annual assessment sample DETAILS: Dan reported that the 2015 annual assessment sample from the well came back positive for E. coli and asked for assistance. I advised him to collect 5 more samples from the well prior to chlorination and mark them "confirmation" samples. I asked if he had any idea what the cause could be and he said he did not-- the well is deep, the well house is clean, the sample tap was flamed prior to sampling, it hasnt rained for a long time, and the nearest potential contaminant source is 100 yrds away (neighbors septic). The system provides a residual maintenance through chlorination and another coliform sample collected out in the distribution at the same time as the positive assessment sample came back ok (absent for total coliform and E. coli) so I did not advise him to issue a boil notice at this time. ACTION NEEDED: Collect 5 raw water samples from the well head prior to chlorination to confirm the presence of E. coli. If any of the 5 confirmation samples are E. coli positive, the system will need to issue a boil water notice. | ||
