Details: | SUMMARY: Fluoride Dosage Monitoring DETAILS: The City of Coquille owns and operates a surface water system that provides water to 4200 people through 1800 connections. Water from Rink Creek and the Coquille River is treated by a conventional water treatment plant prior to disinfection with sodium hypochlorite. Fluoride is added to the treated water. Fluoride levels as measured by the water system have differed from the samples which were analyzed by the state DEQ lab. The concern about the fluoride system was heightened due to a non detect in the DEQ lab sample. The Circuit Rider was contacted by the DWP to provide assistance with determining possible causes for the discrepancies in the fluoride concentration readings. Visited water system to determine possible causes of fluoride concentration discrepancies. Recommended splitting the same sample and sending to the state lab, the city’s lab and testing on the city’s equipment. No obvious causes for the discrepancies were found. ACTION NEEDED: Correspond further with City regarding sampling results. |
