Assistance Type: PLAN REVIEW
Reasons: Lead or Copper
None

Details: SUMMARY: Corrosion control options DETAILS: Copper action level exceeded. Go through plan review. Raw water pH 7.0, alkalinity 120 mg/L, DIC 36 to 40. Options are to raise pH, apply orthophosphate, and/or aerate. Discussed mechanisms of treatment and limitations of options. Existing system pumps well water to storage tank, booster pumps send water to distribution. This scenario works well for aeration, if proven effective. Bench-scale testing of aeration can be done by measuring pH before and after aeration in a jar. Increase of pH to 7.5 would indicate aeration should be effective. Should commitment to aeration be made, then prove inadequate, chemical addition could be included. ACTION NEEDED: none
