Details: SUMMARY: Coliform Positive DETAILS: 11/2/17 sample result showed Total Coliform (TC) present (and history of results since 10/10 sample also showed TC present). Routine (RT) samples are normally collected qtly from the dist. system. If a RT sample shows TC present: (a) 3 repeat (RP) samples are to be collected as soon as practical with 1 taken from the same faucet as the RT sample that showed TC present, another a couple connections up stream and another a couple connections downstream, (b) at the same time a sample from each well that may have influenced the RT result is required - because water from each well is blended together prior to dist., 1 sample from each wellhead is ideal, (c) in the mo. after the RT result showed TC present 3 more RT samples are due which can be collected scattered through the dist. system, (d) if any of the 3 RTs show TC present return to step (a) and proceed through all the steps.John also completed the level 1 coliform investigation paperwork and found potential points of contamination as follows: At well #1 a port likely once used for a vent left the casing open. At well #2 the way wiring went into casing did not appear entirely secure. At well #3 the inverted U vent had no screen in place. John will take care of the issues. After further discussion John determined to periodically add sodium hypochlorite to each tank over the next wk. with intent of all chlorine to be flushed through prior to collection of the 3 Dec. samples. In case of any chlorine residual more flushing than normal would occur prior to sample collecting. I advised John that the presence of TC in a myriad of sample sites might make it logical to consider disinfection. ACTION NEEDED: Add sodium hypochloriteFlush linesCollect additional samples as required
