| Details: | SUMMARY: Poss. Bypass for emergency fire flow DETAILS: Brian is with CH2M/Jacobs Eng, who are taking over the operation of Brookings PWS and WW. Brookings is going for a grant to upgrade their readiness to deal with emergencies, particularly fire. One concern was whether they would still have access to water for fire needs if something happened to the water plant - if it was taken out by fire or a compromised dam upstream, for example. They are considering installing a bypass that would allow untreated water to be directed away from the plant for fire use. Although DWS is not generally in favor of installing treatment bypasses, if it were set up so that it required a spool change, not a simple valve turn, that would probably cover our basic concerns. Brian just wanted to check in about that idea. ACTION NEEDED: None. It wont be known for a while whether theyll get the grant. | ||
