Details: | Pipe leak in the slough is difficult to fix. It can only be worked on during low tides - sometimes in the wee hours of the morning.
Communications and Boil notices have been distributed.
The Clatskanie Fire Dept. is providing drinking water for those who can travel there.
(But showers are impossible.)
(In addition to the harsh weather causing many boils statewide, the Leak is not uncommon for Midland. They are working to repair the entire distribution system later this year with help from BizOregons large loans.) Update 01/31/2024: The first leak was fixed, but re-pressurizing the distribution system sprung a second leak. They are working now (Wednesday) to fix it. Then they will restore pressure, flush the distribution, sample for coliforms and chlorine residual, and wait for negative coliform results before lifting the boil order. (Also, 2 pallets of water was delivered to Midland today.) Update 02/02/2024: The (second) leak was fixed and water pressure was restored just before midnight on Thursday night. Flushing today (Friday) all day. 4 more pallets of drinking water were delivered for the weekend from Columbia County Emergency Management. Flushing will continue through the weekend. They hope to sample for coliforms Monday and find out results Tuesday. Lifted 02/06/2024: Results came back negative for coliform (from a "Special" sample) today. |
