Details: | Craig reported that on May 19, at approximately 1232 hrs., a UPS at the Laurel Ridge Pump Station failed, killing power to the PLC. Staff received an alarm on the SCADA and were able to replace the UPS by 1303 hrs. Distribution staff responded and began flushing the pressure zone which supplies water to approximately 42 homes. Because the PLC had powered down it was impossible to tell how significant the pressure loss was in this zone, but the operator did receive a customer call regarding no water pressure. The chlorine residual in the main was greater than 0.7 ppm when the event occurred. After flushing the system chlorine level was in excess of 0.9 ppm. Staff collected a water sample and issued a boil water advisory and hand delivered notices to all affected customers. No food service facilities, or schools were affected. There was no need for language access resources. Lifted 05/20/2024: Craig Kuhnert reported that the water samples came back clear of bacterial contamination. The boil water advisory has been lifted. |
