Details: | On 12/11/19, Brenda learned that their routine coliform sample contained E. coli. She collected 3 repeat samples on 12/12, while investigating the problem. They determined the chlorine feed pump was not working properly because of a hole in the tube, and the situation had not yet been resolved when the 3 repeat samples were collected. They replaced the tube later on 12/12.
They have also had concerns about the accuracy of their portable chlorine meter - a Hach digital meter. This week, Hach agreed to replace the unit. [Their online chlorimeter has realistic measurements (which vary over time), but the portable one has had results that seem too consistent.] Update 12/16/2019: The results of the repeat samples collected 12/12 were positive for coliform (total). This was expected because they had not yet identified a problem and taken corrective action when the repeats were collected. On Monday, 12/16, the chlorine level at the treatment plant was normal (they keep it at around 0.9 or 1.0 at the entry point). They collected coliform samples today and will ship them to the lab. Lifted 12/18/2019: System lifted the boil advisory on Wednesday, 12/18, once they received absent results for the 3 samples collected on 12/16/19. The chlorine residual level is good, and they also received a replacement Hach chlorimeter that is working well. |
