Details: | 02.07.2022- Update: Steve informed me that turbidity levels are back within normal range and the precautionary boil water notice was lifted. The dam restoration works are going well. Steve also reported that Raymond. S Doan will no longer be their DRC. Jason Carman with RCAC is helping Steve find a new DRC. On 02.07.22, I Emailed Steve a link to access the list of certified operators in Oregon. The system is required to submit the Water System Designated Operator Form within 30 days after any change. 12.29.2021-Steve reported another high turbidity event on December 13, through December 24. The highest turbidity reading recorded at the combine filter effluent (CFE) was: 0.7 NTU on Dec 22, 0.6 NTU on Dec 23 and 0.5 NTU on Dec 13-16. The free chlorine residual at the entry point during the high NTU event was 1.1 ppm and CT value was met. The dam at the creek is filling up with silt and in need of cleaning. During heavy rains the silt accumulated in the dam affects the raw water turbidity. Normal raw water turbidity is below 5 units, but during heavy rains it can exceed 10 turbidity units. When it is this high, the treatment plant can’t ensure treated water below 0.3 turbidity units. Given the circumstances, a boil water notice is not required at this time. However, by the end of December, more than 5 percent of the 4-hours turbidity readings are expected to exceed the standard of 0.3 NTUs for the month. The system was advised to post a Tier 2 notice. To address the issues, the system cleaned the settling tank on 12/29/2021. The cleaning and flushing of the dam is scheduled for 01/02/2022. During this time the water intake hose will also be cleaned and repositioned to a lower silt/sediment load zone. Once the water level is lower, the dam will be dredged. The system will inform customers when the project is completed. |
