Details: | 02.22.2022-Steve emailed the tier 2 notice that he posted on January 3, 2022. In this notice the public was initially notified that the system had not met the turbidity standard on Jan 1,2. Later, on January 12, Steve notified all costumers by phone that the system had also fail to meet the turbidity standard on January 9, 2022. No further action needed at this time. Steve also reported that they have completed the work on the dam by fixing the flusher on the bottom of the dam and removing sediment from the dam with an excavator. The intake was also relocated out of the main current in the dam. The system is expecting these changes will improve water quality. 02.18.2022-Garden Valley water system did not meet the 95 percentage turbidity standard on Jan 1, 2 and 9. Steve was advised to post a Tier 2 notice as soon as possible. I emailed him a template. He emailed me back the notice that he is planning to post, but the notice is missing the date customers were notified. I advised him to add the date to the template and email it back to me. Steve reported that The dam at the creek is filling up with silt and is in need of cleaning. During heavy rains last month, the silt accumulated in the dam affects the water turbidity. Normal raw water is below 5 units, except when there is heavy rain. During a storm event, turbidity can go up as high as 10 turbidity units making it impossible to have finish water below 0.3 units. Eric Olson with his excavator is cleaning the dam with help from Ron Holand. Paul and Steve will also be helping. |
