Details: | I sent the following email message to Mr. Kumar to try and clear up his questions regarding how to proceed forward and bring his public water system into compliance. "I wanted to let you know that I received your email yesterday in addition to your text message today. The regulatory authority for the public drinking water system lies with the Oregon Department of Agriculture as well as the Oregon Health Authority. The pump service company and the water testing lab do not have any regulatory authority over your water system. As spelled out in the warning letter dated March 1, 2022 (see attachment), there are serious public health concerns with the construction of the current well based on the confirmed E. coli in the source water. There is no testing out of the regulatory framework the Wolf Creek General Store now finds itself in and the public notice/boil water advisory is in place until one of the below conditions are met. The options moving forward are to obtain a new water source that is in compliance with the construction and water testing parameters that all public water systems have to comply with. Two of the most attainable options are to find a new water source (i.e., drilling a new well) or to construct and operate a hauled water system (from an approved source with a chlorine injection system). The final option is to discontinue the business practices that trigger the Retail Food Establishment in meeting the definition of a public water system in the State of Oregon. I would like to schedule a meeting with you for the week of March 28th, please let me know of a date/time that would work for you." |
