Details: | I talked to Manford Hurley at Energy Labs in Casper WY that analyzed the RADs collected on February 7th for Idleway. I asked about gross alpha detected at 28.2 pCi/L almost twice the MCL. The system sampled in 2018 with gross alpha detected at 1.2 pCi/L. The re-analysis was done on a different date. He said they can rerun the sample next week to reassess the value reported. He also noted the sample bottle was labeled as ‘new well’. There is a well #7 currently in plan review, so we need to confirm where the RADs sample was collected and determine if it is for compliance. I asked Max Hamblin with Crook County to follow up with Box R on the sample collection location. According to the chain of custody at the end of the lab report, Box R collected the sample for the system. I will follow up with DMCE once I heard back from Energy Labs next week. Update (5-12-22): Contacted Box R Lab requesting documentation or an amended report showing where the RADs sample was collected be submitted to DMCE for further evaluation. See contact report Crook County wrote after following up with lab staff and Idleway. - M. Byrd Update (5-26-22): Spoke to Manford at Energy Labs on gross alpha analysis. Sample was reanalyzed for Uranium and confirmed the initial gross alpha concentration. He noted they received another sample from Idleway that was below the MCL, though DWS has not received the data yet. - M. Byrd |
