| Details: | One of the confirmation samples for Western Hills MH Estates came back positive for E. Coli. I forwarded OHA DWS' letter to Robert Trotter, who covers operations for the system, and we discussed that a Boil Water Notice is instated. According to the letter, the water system has to maintain proper CT calculations before the boil notice may be lifted. Robert told me that their chlorine concentrations are normally kept between 0.6 and 1 ppm, that they have a 4 inch main line running 1030 feet. The flow rate is pumping at around 50 gpm but normally is around 88 gpm. He calculated the contact time to be around 7.6 minutes. The chlorine concentration and contact time required for e. coli varies depending on pH and temperature. Keith from DWS forwarded us a chart of the CT values for 4-log inactivation of viruses (chlorine concentration X contact time). I scheduled a Level 2 Coliform Investigation with Robert for Thursday 6/23 morning. |
