Details: | Copper 90th percentile action level exceedance The system was notified of the copper action level exceedance on August 9, 2022. Corine contacted me on September 15 requesting instructions on how to address the exceedance. We discussed the next steps and Corinne agreed to do the following: On September 19: Collect the 1st round of water quality parameters (WQP): measure temperature and pH at time of collection and have the lab test alkalinity, conductivity and calcium. Collect one sample in the distribution system and one sample at the entry point. Collect one lead and copper sample at the entry point to the distribution system. Corinne was reminded to ask the lab for the appropriate sampling bottles as soon as possible. On October 3: Collect the second round of WQPs. Measure temperature and pH at time of collection and have the lab test alkalinity, conductivity and calcium. one sample at the entry point and one sample at the same location in the distribution system as in round 1. I advised Corinne to contact Civil West Engineering to request assistance to help the system determine the optimal corrosion control option. Corinne also expressed that Weiss Estates would like to collect two consecutive 6-month lead and copper demonstration rounds to postpone the installation of corrosion control. If the action level for lead or copper is exceeded during either of these 6-month rounds, Weiss Estates must then complete the installation of corrosion control treatment by March 31, 2025. Plan review approval is required. Corinne stated that she would email me the current list of lead and copper sampling sites to determine if any of the sites meet the invalidation criteria. |
