| Details: | 11.14.2023-I emailed Janet requesting an update on the status of the actions the system is taking to address the pending monitoring and reporting violations. 05.12.2023-A field visit to the water system was conducted on May 12, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to get a better understanding of the water treatment process and discuss the next steps to install surface water treatment. Janet and Bill expressed that the community is small, and they won’t be able to fund this project using private funds. Their main concern with securing an SRF loan is the loan requirement to install meters at each home. I clarified that the cost of the meters could be included in the loan. We also discussed the possibility of consolidating Galice Subdivision and Galice Resort into one system. Galice subdivision residents are not against consolidation, but Janet is not convinced this idea is technically feasible. Also, Galice Resort is currently up for sale and the owner is not likely in a position right now to entertain a project of this magnitude. Next steps: The system doesn’t have the financial means to install treatment and they have not secured funds through other means. Janet acknowledged getting assistance last year from the Circuit Rider Program (Dan Vaage) to work on the SRF LOI, but they are not sure where they left off on that project. Janet was advised to contact Dan Vaage and discuss the next steps needed to submit their LOI by September 1, 2023. I also advised Janet to consult with other water treatment specialists. The only quote they have at this time is one provided by David Funderburk for a treatment plant that would cost over $100,000. Janet may want to consider getting additional quotes from other water treatment specialists. |
