Details: | The WS did a round of shock chlorination but only let the chlorine stand for 20 minutes. They collected a special sample afterwards that was still +TC. I emailed Steve the shock chlorination procedure and he followed up with another round with 8 hours contact time. A follow up special sample was +EC. The well is a pitless and the sample is collected from the first tap in the pump house about 20 feet away from the well and after two sediment filters and pressure tanks. Talking with Steve he mentioned he put a hose down the well to deliver the chlorine. I asked if the hose was flushed/disinfected first. He said it was not and it had been hanging in the pump house for some time. He decided to issue a boil advisory and will be conducting another round of shock chlorination followed by a special sample. The WS will need to report a routine sample in August. UPDATE: 7/21/23 Steve called and said he heard back from the lab and the +EC result was a miscommunication!! - the previous special sample was clean. Steve said he lifted the boil/informed residents and will not be collecting another sample until the August routine. |
