Details: | As expected, two violations were generated for failure to collect TCR & NO3 water test samples during the previous monitoring periods. The new system operator (Stephan Moore) took over operations of the water system in the final week of 2023. There was not enough time to take samples before the end of the year. We contacted Mr. Moore today to help them avoid missing their opportunity to avoid quarterly sampling (by taking the first make-up TCR-RT sample in January 2024). Mr. Moore reported that during the severe winter storm weather (beginning 1/12/24), water pipes burst at the bed and breakfast facility. This closed operations at the facility and made collecting test samples impossible until repairs could be made. It had been Mr. Moore's intent to collect water test samples during the week of 1/16/24. A severe snowstorm impacted our entire region during that week, also contributing to the delay in collecting test samples (and repairs). Mr. Moore reported that today was the first day that it was possible to collect water test samples. They intend to proceed with testing today. So long as nothing else unexpected occurs, the first make-up sample ought to be submitted on-time. We also discussed the overdue NO3 water test sample. Mr. Moore intends to resolve that issue as well. |
