Details: | Their water source has just been changed to GU in the database. Starting February 1, they will be required to submit a completed surface water treatment report for each entry point with a daily record of turbidity, pH, temperature, and chlorine residual. If not, they will receive violations for each EP starting with the month of February. I also informed the manager (Corinne) that their monitoring schedules will increase with this change in source type, at least in the short term. For some chemicals, they have already met the initial monitoring requirements and received reductions - the existing schedule will not change for radiologicals, DBPs, and lead and copper. However, they must meet initial monitoring requirements for GU sources for others. The biggest change is that they will need to collect VOCs and SOCs each quarter for one year before those schedules can be reduced. (Since becoming a community water system in 2016, we have no record of VOC or SOC results from either entry point, just directly from a source, pre-treatment.) I said I would follow up on the changed requirements in an email, and share that with their DRC and the lab. I also let Corinne know that a Bilateral Compliance Agreement is being prepared which will give compliance dates for completing the tracer studies, submitting plan review materials, completing construction on the treatment facilities (may already have happened) and demonstrating through monthly treatment reports that they are meeting the treatment standards for GU sources. The resort owner will have to sign this agreement. We also discussed ongoing progress towards having the plants ready for the tracer studies; they will replumb the top 3 tanks this week to become the contact chamber for the upper plant and are working on making their chlorine dosage practices consistent at both plants. |
