Details: | 06.28.2024 The operator reported that they will be pulling Cyanotoxin samples every other Monday as part of the state HABs project, with July 1, 2024, being our next sample date. The city of Medford is collecting samples on the opposite weeks, so Grants Pass will be monitoring their results as well. The operator is testing the source water and finish water weekly for Geosmin until this event passes. Currently the water system is dosing KMnO4 to the point that their process will allow. The Source water and finish water geosmin samples will help the operator determine how much of an affect they are having with the KMnO4. No further actions needed at this time. 06.27.2024 The operator reported that lab results confirmed the presence of geosmin. The operator has taken additional samples to help track the duration of the issue. 06.24.2024 Report of tap water having an unpleasant odor. I was made aware of a news article reporting customer complaints regarding an unpleasant odor in the drinking water. The operator was contacted to inquire about the cause and whether or not the system is considering changes to the treatment. The operator responded that it appears there was some sort of bloom up at the Lost Creek reservoir. Multiple municipalities including Medford were getting complaints regarding taste and odor. Coincidentally, The City of Grants Pass had taken HAB samples on Monday that came back as ND on 06.21.2024. The city took additional samples for 2-MIB and Geosmin on Wednesday and expect results to come in today. The operator will reach out to DWS when the lab results are back. No further actions needed at this time. |
