| Details: | On 10/8/24 I received a call from Pavil Snegirev with Newberg letting me know that a routine distribution system coliform sample was E. coli positive (I also received an emailed alert). He said he thought it might have had to do with a fire pump turning on and stirring up sediment. In order to confirm the result, I advised him that they needed to take 3 repeat samples with one sample upstream, one sample downstream, and one sample at the same location as the original positive sample today and to let me know the results of those repeat samples when notified by the lab. Triggered source assessment sampling did not apply because they provide 4-log disinfection for their wells. I also recommended that he prepare to issue a boil water notice in case the repeat sampling confirmed the result. Pavil called back and asked about the Level 1 and 2 coliform investigation process and I said that if the repeat samples came back positive that I would be doing a Level 2 coliform investigation. I recommended he review the Level 1 coliform Investigation form typically completed by water systems to see if there were any other reasons that may have lead to the positive result. Pavil said they had taken the repeat samples and did some flushing of the system. On 10/9/24 I received a call and an email from Pavil letting me know that the repeat samples passed and were absent of coliform bacteria. No further action is needed at this time. | ||
