| Details: | The operator contacted me this regarding the E. coli positive repeat sample in distribution collected 8/8. A boil water advisory is in effect. The notice will be hand-delivered to all businesses and to elderly populations, texted individually to residents, and posted in conspicuous places in Shaniko. The repeat E. coli positive was taken at the men’s restroom, the same site as the routine E. coli positive collected 8/7. The chlorine residual measured at 0.1 ppm. The upstream and downstream samples were absent. The triggered source samples from springs 4 & 5 were total coliform positive only. We discussed restoring the chlorinator to normal function, flushing the system and resampling. They can target a higher chlorine dosage so it is noticeable at the extents of the distribution system and then move to maintenance residual. |
