| Details: | TC Positive on November 10, 2025 12.04.2025-A level 2 coli investigation was triggered after RP samples collected on 11.13.25 tested TC positive. The investigation was conducted on December 4, 2025. Based on the results of the investigation it is believed that the causes of the resent multiple TC positive samples are related to the following factors: - The system is not maintaining a detectable amount of free chlorine in the distribution system: Free chlorine concentration at the entry point and at other sites within the distribution measured at 0.0 mg/L. - Disinfection equipment failure: The chlorine pump is experiencing failure. It is not successfully pumping sodium hypochlorite (liquid chlorine) through the discharge line and into the water storage tank. - Failure to monitor and replace chlorine supply: The day tank was observed to have a very low level of sodium hypochlorite. The low level of chemical in the tank likely caused the chlorine pump to lose its prime, leading to a failure in disinfection. Corrective Actions: The system is advised to perform chemical pump inspection and maintenance, perform routine free chlorine monitoring to ensure a detectable amount of free chlorine in the system, shock the system and once free chlorine levels are back to normal, the operator should collect a Special sample to ensure the TC contamination has been addressed. A copy of the L2 investigation has been submitted to DMCE. 11.12.2025-The operator was contacted and advised to follow their coliform sampling procedure. Specifically, the operator was provided with detailed instructions to collect three RP samples and one TG sample at the source. Additionally, the operator was instructed to collect the repeat samples prior to any corrective action. The operator was also advised to verify that the chlorine system is working correctly. |
