| Details: | Justin Riggs reached out regarding a violation (ID# 900666439) received for not reporting radium 226/228, which was to be sampled between 1/1/2017 and 12/31/2025 per a 9-yr sampling frequency schedule. The sampling was actually completed on 11/2/25 and reported on time on 12/12/25 per the DWS automated receipt confirmation email record. The missing sample result was re-submitted for entry and the violation was rejected. The radium 226/228 result of 1.9 pCi/L (sampled 11/2/25) was above the lab Minimum Reporting Level of 0.6 pCi/L but less than half the 5 pCi/L MCL, so that means the monitoring frequency would go to once every 6 years for radium 226/228 as opposed to the current schedule of once every 9 years. On April 22, 2026, I emailed Justin and called and left a voice message letting him know about the sampling schedule change for radium 226/228 and that the 6-year schedule would begin 1/1/2026 and that the next sample would be due between 1/1/26 and 12/31/31 (a maximum of 6 years from the date last sampled in 2025). The rule citation (OAR 333-0061-0036(7)(a)(B)(ii) & (iv)) was also provided in the 4/22/26 email. |
