Details: | Evan Hofeld suggested to Carl some flushing could resolve a possible reduction in demand around Fort Clatsop which could've caused recent increases in DBPs. He cautioned against flushing around the time of sampling, however, to prevent inaccurate results. Evan also suggested sampling for TOC since membrane filters do not normally remove TOC from the water (unless they add a coagulation process upstream), and TOC is a precursor to DBPs. Knowing the TOC would help nail down the source of the problem. So far we are just guessing at the source of the recent DBP exceedances. The Locational Running Annual Average (LRAA) is still low. However the OEL, which attempts to predict future DBP results shows the LRAA could be exceeded in the next sample period. |
