I spoke with the contact for this water system by phone. We discussed the history of routine quarterly total coliform/E. coli samples at this system. - This water system has been active since July 31st, 2018. (3rd quarter)
- Their first reported routine sample was the same quarter (3rd), taken September 21st, 2018.
- The 4th quarter sample was not taken nor submitted, and the system's first violation for "Routine Coliform - Did Not Report ANY" was issued. This violation automatically returned to compliance when,
- The 1st quarter, 2019 routine sample was taken on February 15th, 2019 and reported in March 10, 2019.
- The system did not report a 2nd quarter routine test result and the system received their second "Routine Coliform - Did Not Report ANY" violation within the previous 12 months. Because of this, an Opportunity Letter was generated by Drinking Water Services on the 12th of July.
- When the system received this letter, I was contacted by the system's contact person and we discussed the 2nd quarter violation.
- She stated that the system had tested both nitrate and total coliform/E. coli on April 4th, 2019. While the nitrate test was properly registered as reported by the system's lab via mail on April 12th, 2019, an apparent miscommunication between the system and lab or an error at the lab, resulted in the quarterly routine test not being submitted. Routine tests are submitted digitally.
- During our discussion about the violation, I suggested the system notify dwp.dmce that their had been a mistake causing only the nitrate test to be reported to Drinking Water Services and to submit the results and evidence of the April 4th, 2019 quarterly routine.
