Details: | Dave recapped the recent issues at Weiss Estates. (He is their equipment consultant.) In late April, the plant shut down for a couple days because the float relay stopped calling for more water. During that shut down, the chlorine pump went off, and some residents started to mess with it. He went there on both May 5 and 15 and made a new batch solution and calibrated the pump. He is aiming for the injection dosage be 1.5 mg/L. Also in early May(?) the membrane failed its DIT but Dave thinks it was a problem with the compressor rather than the membrane itself (the error log does not say why it did not pass). He replaced both the compressor and the membrane. He encouraged Weiss secretary Megan Maloney to organize a training for residents who take readings at the treatment shed - to review what they can and cannot do to make adjustments, when to alert others, etc. Dave is convinced that the latest low chlorine numbers (end of May) stem either from problems with the chlorine meter itself (maintained properly?) or from user or reporting errors. He understands they are getting different chlorine results even when measured at the same place and time. Civil West Engineering is about to complete a feasibility analysis of options for Weiss Estates. If a well does not work out, Dave would suggest 1) moving the intake (organics are pushed by wind into the part of the pond the intake is now), and 2) re-doing the PLC controls with alerts (would go through plan review). |
