Details: | SUMMARY: low chlorine residual #3 DETAILS: On Tuesday, June 19 I went out to Willamina to meet with Matt Griffith. He told me that he had discovered the real cause of the problem. It was not the chlorinator going out over the weekend. They have a temporary chlorination set-up while their old chlorination building is being torn down and a new one built. Chlorine gas is fed into a 1+ inch feeder line, which in turn feeds the line from the filter effluent going into the clearwell. This feeder line was fine on Saturday when the weekend operator left, but Sunday morning it was ruptured and leaking onto the floor. No chlorinated water was being fed into the line into the clearwell during this time. On Monday when Matt came in, he saw the low chlorine residual and assumed it was the chlorinator. He replaced the cyclinders and bumped up the chlorine to feed 2 ppm. He did not ask until Tuesday why the floor was all wet, and then the operator who was there on the weekend told him what happened with the chlorine feed line. Continued in next contact report…..
