Details: | SUMMARY: Assistance developing and adopting cross connection control ordinance/enabling authority DETAILS: The City of Paisley owns and operates a community water system with 120 service connections and a population of approximately 315. Three wells supply the system through one entry point. This CWS was referred to the circuit rider program for assistance with developing and adopting an ordinance for cross connection control (CCC) that includes enabling authority (EA). I called city recorder, Theresa Vickerman, and offered assistance with the EA. She said that she would have to check with the Mayor and the system operator. Vickerman called back and said that the operator told her that they dont have any cross connections. When I explained that the CCC ordinance is a requirement of the state and federal drinking water regulations, she requested that I send her a draft ordinance. Also told her that all systems have cross connections or potential cross connections and offered assistance in developing a more comprehensive CCC program. Prepared a draft CCC ordinance based on the City of Westons ordinance (with permission) and mailed a copy to the City of Paisley. ACTION NEEDED: Ms. Vickerman needs to work with the mayor and city council to get the CCC ordinance containing EA adopted. Then she needs to send a copy of the ordinance to the state DWP. |
