Details: | I contacted water system consultant that recently installed the system's new GAC and cartridge filter. Inquired to see if he knew why the system sample above alert level for DBP's in the distribution system considering the new filtration. He believed the water system staff had possibly left the GAC filter in bypass mode. Consultant also observed some organic build up in distribution piping with recent pipe work. He thought the distribution system could benefit from a shock chlorination treatment. I emailed system contact and they confirmed GAC filter was accidently bypassed for a period of time. I also encouraged the water system shock chlorinate and flush to help remove organics in the system that may perpetuate DBP issues. |
