Details: | SUMMARY: Project to connect new well is moving forward. DETAILS: Sue Newstetter is the administrator for the Block Grant funding to complete the project to connect the new well to the system. The project has finally been approved by OECDD so it can now move forward. The new well has Arsenic above the MCL, so a treatment process will have to be designed. Meanwhile, Dick Davis, DRC Operator reported data to calculate chlorine demand for the existing well 4. The City has been using 16,000 gpd from the well, and 0.68 gpd of the 12.5% sodium hypochlorite has been used. (Drop of 0.5 inch/day in 20 inch diameter barrel.) Therefore, chlorine residual at injection point is 5.31 mg/l. Chlorine residual drops to 0.5 mg/l just 500 feet downstream from injection point. By the time water goes 1 mile to the reservoir and 1 mile back to town, 0 chlorine residual is left. ACTION NEEDED: City to proceed with Well Development and Treatment project. |
