Details: SUMMARY: Positive coliform sample 12/11/08 DETAILS: 12/15/08 Chuck called to notify me of the positive sample. I advised him to collect four repeat samples. 12/17/08 Chuck called and said one of the four repeat samples collected on 12/15/08 tested positive. He believes that the positive occurred because of inadequate flushing of the system as the part of the distribution system that the sample was collected from has not been in use for some time. I advised him to post a tier 2 public notice, continue to troubleshoot the system, shock chlorinate as needed and collect a special sample. I emailed him a tier 2 public notice and a well disinfection fact sheet. 12//22/08 I spoke with Chuck and he said he flushed the system but has not yet taken a special sample. I advised him to chlorinate the system and collect a special sample. He thinks he needs to flush the system thoroughly prior to collecting a sample and that he will do that tomorrow. 2/6/09 I spoke with Alec from Neilson Research and she informed me that five temporary routines were submitted on 1/8/09 and all were negative. ACTION NEEDED: One routine coliform sample will need to be collected during the second quarter 2009
