Details: | SUMMARY: Arsenic Issues Assistance DETAILS: HBH was contacted by the City due to high arsenic levels in one of its three municipal wells. The City provides water to approximately 300 people through 120 connections. The water system consists of two older wells and one newer well which is the source of the highest arsenic contamination. HBH composed source water sampling memo to allow for the system to sample proper chemical properties. Consulted EPA Decision Making Tree to determine proper means of Arsenic Treatment management. It was determined that a combination of treatment and blending would likely be the best course of action. The best treatment method would largely be cost-dependent. Contacted treatment plant manufacturers to determine possible budget amounts for treatment equipment and long term costs. I coordinated with TMG Services regarding cost estimates for an adsorption media filtration system. Long term operational costs for such a system were determined to be too burdensome for the community. Additional methods of arsenic compliance should be considered. ACTION NEEDED: Further assist City with selecting proper course of action. |
