| Details: | SUMMARY: Assistance with Backwash Issues DETAILS: HBH was contacted by the City to provide assistance with backwash and air feed issues at the water treatment plant. One of the water treatment plant trains was experiencing problems with water entering the air lines of the blower. In addition, it appeared that the filters were not achieving good backwashes. HBH visited the system and investigated status of automated valves, backwash pump, backwash piping, filter media depth and backwash wash arm. It was clear the wash arm was not moving during the backwash. I recommended that the operator verify the water flow to the arm, check the nozzles for plugging and inspect the bearing for wear.
